Purpose

Force the lower leg to stay underneath the rider through the absorption phase.

Setup

Small vertical (2'9") with a ground pole 9' on the landing side.

Step-by-step
  1. 01Canter the vertical, focusing only on the landing.
  2. 02Land in two-point with heels driven down.
  3. 03Ride the landing pole in rhythm without looking down.
  4. 04Repeat 8 times each direction.
Common mistakes
  • Sitting too early after landing.
  • Looking down at the pole.
  • Allowing the heel to come up after the fence.
Success looks like

Leg position photographs identically on takeoff and 2 strides post-landing.
