Purpose
Force the lower leg to stay underneath the rider through the absorption phase.
Setup
Small vertical (2'9") with a ground pole 9' on the landing side.
Step-by-step
- 01Canter the vertical, focusing only on the landing.
- 02Land in two-point with heels driven down.
- 03Ride the landing pole in rhythm without looking down.
- 04Repeat 8 times each direction.
Common mistakes
- Sitting too early after landing.
- Looking down at the pole.
- Allowing the heel to come up after the fence.
Success looks like
Leg position photographs identically on takeoff and 2 strides post-landing.
