Forward Out of the Corner
Maintain impulsion through turns and related distances

Purpose
Train the rider to open the corner with the inside rein and ride forward to the next fence with conviction.
Setup
Two verticals on a bending five-stride line, 64 feet apart.
Step-by-step
- 01Ride a 20m circle approaching the line to set rhythm.
- 02After fence 1, open the inside rein and add forward leg.
- 03Count the rhythm out loud: '1-2-3-4-5.'
- 04Repeat in four-stride form, then back to five.
Common mistakes
- Pulling on the outside rein into the turn.
- Adding hand instead of leg.
- Letting the canter shrink before fence 2.
